beauty held back dims the light of those who love it; beauty shared multiplies it.
Portrait of Rohini
Lights
And there is the gift of growth: everything Rohini touches with constancy blossoms — a business, a home, a family, savings. She is the gardener of the zodiac: her way of loving the world is to cultivate it.
Shadows
The shadows are born of privilege. She who has been the beloved expects to be so always: Rohini’s jealousy is proverbial, and her touchiness when attention goes elsewhere can surprise those who thought her all serenity.
In love
In love Rohini is what the myth promises: the bride in every sense. Romantic in the most carnal and everyday meaning of the word — the dinner prepared, the beautiful home, the body as a language — faithful, devoted, able to make the other feel like a king.
At work
She suffers in ugly jobs and ugly places: a squalid setting dims her the way drought withers a garden, and chronic haste is physically hostile to her. Give her a harmonious place and the right pace, and she will give you back the richest harvest in the office.
The rest is in Vol. II “I Nakshatra”, chapter 9. The texts on this page are translated from the Italian edition. The book
Living Rohini well
- Practise generosity as a discipline: give away fruit, open your home, teach what you can do with your hands.
- Grow something living, literally — a vegetable garden, a balcony of herbs, even a single plant that is well looked after.
