Hasta is the point of the zodiac where the mind descends into the fingers: thought becoming gesture, idea becoming object
Portrait of Hasta
Lights
There is endless resourcefulness: put her in any situation with three objects and half an hour, and she will come out of it with a solution — this is the mansion of the art of making do, in the noblest sense.
Shadows
The shadows are born where dexterity turns in on itself. Control, it goes without saying: the hand that can do everything struggles to let others do — and “I’ll be quicker doing it myself” becomes the door through which tiredness and loneliness come in.
In love
In love Hasta is the partner of gestures: don’t expect torrential declarations — expect the button sewn back on without your asking, the favourite dish that appears on bad days, the hand on your back at exactly the right moment. Her love is maintenance: constant, concrete, made of a hundred small invisible repairs that hold the shared home together.
At work
Hasta works with her hands, and the list of her vocations is the catalogue of well-made crafts. Craftsmanship in every form: tailoring, carpentry, ceramics, goldsmithing, instrument-making — wherever matter takes shape under the fingers.
The rest is in Vol. II “I Nakshatra”, chapter 18. The texts on this page are translated from the Italian edition. The book
Living Hasta well
- Cultivate a daily gesture that produces nothing: ten minutes of hands moving without purpose.
